A great lesson we worked on last week was the physical structure, biology, and environmental impact of worms. What I do remember is that worms ate his garbage. It's hard to have a regular compost pile if you live in an apartment, but a worm bin solves that problem perfectly. Our solid waste management district educator (recyclejohnsoncounty.com) gave me a book called, "Worms Eat My Garbage" (you can find it on Amazon.com) to help me get started. A book that I strongly recommend for beginners is Worms Eat My Garbage by Mary Appelhof. Ok, they already do, out back, in the compost bins. What all this means is that anyone can now compost there garbage. Finally giving up on me, she put together one for me last fall and even stocked it with worms.
